460 kg of Methamphetamines Smuggled Into Korea Last Year

A huge amount of a *narcotic substance was found to have been
smuggled into Korea from China last year.

In an annual narcotics report *released yesterday, the prosecution *presumed that drug *traffickers brought in about 460 kg of methamphetamines, or ``hiroppong'' in Japanese, from China in 2000. The substance is also widely known as ``white crystal.''

어제 발표된 연간 마약 보고서에 따르면 검찰은 마약 밀수업자들이 지난 해 중국으로부터 일본어로 "히로뽕"으로 불리는 마약 460kg을 유입한 것으로 추정하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 마약은 "백색 결정체"로도 널리 알려져 있다.
The amount was estimated at 1.24 trillion won ($950 million), according to the law enforcement authorities.
사법 당국에 의하면 이 규모는 1조2400만원(9억5천만불) 상당에 달하는 것으로 추산된다.
