Kangwon Governor to Visit North Korea
강원도지사 방북 계획
A 12-member delegation from Kangwon Province in South Korea will visit North Korean counterparts in Wonsan and Pyongyang from Dec. 16-20 to *foster cooperation, Governor Kim Jin-sun, the leader of the group, said in a news conference yesterday.

강원도 지역 12인으로 구성된 대표단은 북한과의 협력 증진을 위해 12월 16부터 20일까지 북한의 강원지역인 원산과 평양을 방문하게 될 것이라고 대표단장인 김진선 강원도지사가 어제 가진 뉴스 간담회에서 언급했다.
Kangwon Province is split by the Demilitarized Zone, with part of it in South Korea and the other part in the North.
강원도 지역은 비무장 지대로 인해 일부는 남쪽에 다른 일부는 북쪽으로 나뉘어져 있다.
During his trip, Kim will hold talks with North Korean officials on providing farm equipment, setting up facilities to grow potatoes, protecting pine trees from insects and stocking a river with salmon.
방문기간중 김 지사는 농장 설비 지원과 감자 재배 시설 설치, 벌레로부터 소나무를 보호하는 방법, 강에 연어를 방류하는 일 등에 관해 북한측 관계자와 회담을 갖게 될 것이다.
The governor said the visit was initiated by Sangji University
President Han Wan-sang, who made the proposal for cooperation between the two Kangwon Provinces during his visit to the North in early October.
이번 방문은 지난 10월초 북한을 방문하면서 남북의 강원지역에 대한
협력을 제안했던 상지대학의 한완상 총장의 주도로 이루어진 것이라고 김지사는 전했다.
